The elephant sanctuary in Tennessee is where elephants come to retire. And when they retire, most elephants seek out a companion that they will spend most of their time with. This four ton Asian elephant, Tara, bonded with a former stray dog named Bella. Soon they were spending every moment together. They were an inseparable odd couple.
For years, they were close, but no one ever knew how close until a spinal cord injury kept Bella laid up in the sanctuary office for 3 weeks. With 3,000 acres to roam, Tara never left. She spent the entire three weeks just outside the sanctuary office, keeping vigil. Eventually, the two were reunited and they now live happily together, teaching the whole world a daily lesson about unconditional love.
This is the end of the post.
